Good Choice Kitchen Offers Weekly Cooking Classes

All four workshops take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

Laurie Gershgorn, owner of Good Choice Kitchen

With its healthy meal plans and its vegan café, Good Choice Kitchen, in Ossining, is in the business of feeding people well. But it also teaches people how to feed themselves well, through weekly cooking workshops designed to be fun, informative and empowering.

Upcoming topics are The Well-Fed Vegan, focused on protein, fats and carbohydrates, and how much we need from the most nutrient-dense foods (May 2); Superfoods, which takes the guesswork out of using chia, hemp, nutritional yeast, nuts, fruits, maca, seaweed, fresh spices and powders (May 9); Sauces, Dressings, Condiments, about fermenting, blending and marinating, using spice and herb combinations with other simple ingredients (May 16); and Eating Season: Spring, on using the first crops of the season for health and vitality (May 23). All four workshops take place from 6 to 8 p.m.

“These topics cover the foundations for learning and improving knife skills and cooking techniques, as well as handling and procuring a wide variety of ingredients,” says Laurie Gershgorn, the owner of Good Choice Kitchen. “As we expand on the topics, students learn nutritive facts and ways to eat optimally that meet their specific dietary goals. The classes encourage them and build their confidence, enabling them to expand their meal-planning ideas and create their own repertoire of dishes when they’re in their kitchen at home.”

For Good Choice Kitchen’s weekly meal program, Gershgorn—a chef, food educator and nutritional consultant, and the founder of Healthy Culinary Creations—prepares meals for individuals, couples or families, and the elderly or housebound, anywhere in Westchester County. Using farm-fresh foods, she customizes the meals to the specific dietary needs of each family. Meal plans are available for one to seven days per week, on a long-term or short-term basis, and can be picked up or delivered.

The Good Choice Kitchen Vegan Café features a full dine-in or takeout seasonal farm-to-table menu, a wide selection of fresh fruit/veggie juices and smoothies, and a fridge full of healthy Grab-N-Go options.

Good Choice Kitchen is located at 147 Main St., Ossining, NY. For more info, call 914.930.1591, email Laurie@GoodChoiceKitchen.com or visit GoodChoiceKitchen.com.
