Massage Envy’s Stretching Protocol Proves Popular

“Using slow, deliberate traction techniques, stretch providers help you move beyond your body’s inherent resistance and may extend range of motion."

The Streto Method, a professionally assisted stretching technique introduced by Massage Envy Spas last year, has been so popular with clients that the franchise is exploring other new services to launch as complementary or stand-alone therapies.

A proprietary protocol offered under the name Total Body Stretch, the Streto Method involves a specific sequence of stretches designed to loosen up individual muscle groups, explains Kamil Samra, owner of the Massage Envy Spas in Bedford Hills and Rye Brook.

“Using slow, deliberate traction techniques, stretch providers help you move beyond your body’s inherent resistance and may extend range of motion, which can increase circulation, reduce tension and improve muscle function,” Samra says.

The “stretch professionals” at Massage Envy have diverse backgrounds, ranging from kinesiology and personal training to licensed massage therapy, says Nataliya Kisseleva, owner of Massage Envy Spa in Scarsdale. “No matter their experience, all stretch providers are required to complete a proprietary curriculum that builds on their knowledge of anatomy and neuromuscular physiology to become Streto Method trained.”

Clients can experience the Total Body Stretch as a stand-alone treatment or as a complement to their favorite massage, she adds. “A 30- or 60-minute session can leave you feeling more relaxed and energetic immediately. Due to time limitations, a 30-minute session will be less comprehensive but more focused on the specific area of your concern. We strongly recommend scheduling a 60-minute session, which will give you good understanding of what this service is about. You’ll learn something new about your body, as a stretching session is a customized journey about your individual tension and tightness that you may not be aware of.”

Introduced in early 2017, the service continues to gain momentum in 2018, Samra says. “We are testing new modalities that will work as enhancements to stretch or massage session or can be received as a stand-alone service. We expect there will be more to come by the end of this year.”

The Total Body Stretch service is offered at all Westchester County Massage Envy locations: Bedford Hills (914.244.3689); Central Park Avenue (914.422.3689); Rye Brook (914.417.6940); and Scarsdale (914.902.9200). For more info, visit MassageEnvy.com.
