Grassroots Fundraiser Honors George Latimer and Judith Enck

Annual farm-to-table dinner on November 16

Wainwright House

Grassroots Environmental Education, which informs the public about emerging environmental health threats such as Westchester’s pipeline infrastructure, will hold its annual farm-to-table dinner on November 16 at Wainwright House in Rye. As in previous years, the evening’s program will focus on the work of the organization, with displays and a short multimedia presentation.

“The dinner will feature gourmet, home-cooked fare using freshly harvested vegetables from the Golden Earthworm Organic Farm in Jamesport, Long Island,” says Patti Wood, executive director of Grassroots Environmental Education. “From the appetizers to the desserts, which will be donated by Diane’s Desserts in Roslyn, every bite is something special.”

The evening’s honorees are Senator George Latimer and Judith Enck, former Region 2 administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Latimer was elected to the New York Senate in 2012, representing the 37th District. Prior to being elected to the Senate, he held various elected positions, including New York State assemblyman, Westchester County legislator and Rye City Council member.

Enck recently served as Region 2 administrator for the EPA, overseeing federal programs governing air and water pollution. Prior to that, she was deputy secretary for the environment in the New York State Governor’s Office, policy advisor to the state attorney general and senior environmental associate with the New York Public Interest Research Group.

Seating is limited. For more info or to RSVP, contact Grassroots at 914.422.3141, 516.883.0887 or GEE@GrassrootsInfo.org.
