Today to Spotlight Local Henna Artist

Nugent has made the healing of women through art her life’s work.

Mount Kisco henna artist Margie Nugent, who helps empower women through her art, will appear on the October 3 edition of the Today show, which will feature her work providing henna crowns to breast cancer survivors who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy.

“My mission is to provide a peaceful experience for the women and help them feel empowered at a time when they may feel anything but,” Nugent says. “The stain itself lasts for about two weeks, but the healing feeling lasts much longer.”

Drawing from her own life experiences, Nugent has made the healing of women through art her life’s work. An ordained interfaith minister, she has been featured in several documentaries and has received a number of awards for her boutique body-art company, Making Faces Parties.

“Margie Nugent is a healing artist,” says Anita Kopacz, former editor in chief of Heart & Soul magazine. “She uses henna techniques to help women who have survived traumas, from cancer to sexual abuse, feel empowered and beautiful again.”

Among Nugent’s upcoming events is a hands-on workshop at Slow Medicine in Katonah. Along with Xenia Colon D’Abrosi of Sweet Earth Co., she will teach women how herbs and henna are used to cleanse and revitalize the spirit. She will also be teaching a class in Austin, Texas.

Margie Nugent travels throughout the tristate area. For more info, contact her at Margie@MakingFacesParties.com or 914.714.8069.
