“My workshop is designed to help yoga teachers better understand, relate to and support their students in their yoga practice,” she says. “Our bodies hold the memories of our life’s experiences within our tissues and cellular memory. As yoga teachers, it is vital for us to learn how to cultivate a safe environment for students experiencing varying degrees of known and unknown traumas. Teachers will learn the anatomy and neuroscience of trauma, beneficial Restorative Yoga for Trauma prop techniques, and trauma-specific language and yoga poses.”
From 7 to 9 p.m., November 11, trainees will experience an authentic Restorative Yoga for Trauma class. From 1 to 5 p.m., November 12, they will learn the anatomy, physiology, language and psychology of trauma and how to identify and navigate it within their yoga classes. The course content on November 13 will include propping techniques and sequences that are valuable for creating a safe and comfortable atmosphere.
