Start 2021 with The Yoga Teachers Association of the Hudson Valley

Colleen Breeckner

The Yoga Teachers Association of the Hudson Valley (YTA) will be offering two workshops in January: The Five Elements in Yoga, on January 9, and Yoga for Everybody, on January 30.

The Five Elements workshop will be taught by Colleen Breeckner, a national teacher and director of Lila Tandava Yoga Teacher Training, based in New York and Connecticut. She will demonstrate how to optimize asana sequencing by taking into account time of life, time of year, state of imbalance, and individual constitution and ability.

The YTA is extending a $10 discount to both members and nonmembers for this workshop, says President Audrey Brooks.

“As studios continue to close and teaching opportunities disappear, yoga teachers are facing financial challenges,” Brooks says. “At the same time, there are many options to practice and learn remotely, so we are offering this discount as a way to both support our community and thank it for sticking with us.”

Yoga for Everybody will be taught by Canada-based Dianne Bondy, a social justice activist, author and accessible yoga teacher, and the leader of the Yoga for All movement. She will discuss the role of body image, race, diversity, wellness and diet culture in yoga and how to make yoga equitable and accessible for all kinds of bodies.

Other 2021 offerings will be led by Hunt Parr, Ellen Saltonstall and Nina Crist, among others, and cover topics such as meditation, yoga for osteoarthritis and Kung Fu yoga.

YTA workshops are held monthly September through June, usually on the second Saturday, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. All workshops will be held via Zoom until further notice. The regular fee is $45 for members, $65 for nonmembers.
