Blossom into the Best Version of Yourself

As the old saying goes, health is wealth. So, if you’re ready to create a life you love—one of meaning, purpose and passion—and blossom into the best version of yourself, I encourage you to take action and make the necessary shifts to experience optimal wellness in mind, body and soul. I think this month’s cover captures what I’m trying to convey beautifully: happy, healthy, vibrant, living in the moment and loving life. This is what I wish for us all!

Fortunately, we have an array of experienced and caring health and wellness providers in our Natural Awakenings’ community standing at the ready to help individuals like you and me on our wellness journeys. And there are quite a few wellness nuggets contained in our annual Women’s Wellness edition, which I’m excited to share with you. I’m sure men will find a lot of the valuable information contained in these pages helpful as well, but the focus will be on them next month in our Men’s Health edition.

While I’ve always known that stress wreaks havoc on our well-being, I didn’t realize just how much it puts our health at risk. According to our feature article, “Solving Stress” on page 26, studies suggest that 75 to 90 percent of illnesses is stress related. Stress can manifest both physically and emotionally, which is why self-care and learning how to manage and release stress is paramount to living a long, active and fulfilling life.

Life is a journey, and I do believe things happen for a reason. I’ll admit it took me a while to learn what I call “the art of the pause”—a pivotal moment when I’m in the middle of navigating a challenging situation and I ask myself, “What is this teaching me? What is the lesson here?” Being able to master this art has been truly life changing, as has developing an attitude of gratitude. Even though I am aging, thankfully I feel healthier, happier and wiser with each passing year, which is my definition of joy.
