Nature’s Organic hair and wellness salon in Shrub Oak, which offers personalized, toxin-free hair care in an eco-friendly setting, has further enhanced its services with two new organic hair color lines from Simply Organic and Oway. Helen Thaler, who owns and operates Nature’s Organic, says the products she uses don’t just have natural ingredients—they create natural-looking results.

The salon offers individualized exact color matching as well as services like root touch-ups, perms or soft body waves, natural smoothing (to restore dry, frizzy hair), straightening, highlighting or sun-kissed highlights, hair and scalp treatments and simple cuts. All products used, including those for cleaning, shampooing and styling, are free of harsh or toxic chemicals. Thaler has more than 30 years of experience using strictly organic color products. “I can create perfectly natural colors without the damage that is often caused by harsher, chemical-based products,” she says.      

She notes that Oway has moved beyond an ammonia-free system; its hair color line is also free of PPD, PPT and gluten. “These products has been proven to give 100 percent gray coverage with colors that are not brassy and will lift your hair color to very light shades compared to past organic color products,” she says. The salon’s customized organic facials use “spectra-hue light therapy” to balance the lack of sunlight in the late fall and winter.

Thaler also teaches a donation-based Hatha Yoga and Meditation class which will be offered next April.
