How would you describe your studio?

I am not a purist, I am a fundamentalist. I believe in building a sound structure within which to live, because when one subscribes to the brilliance inherent in the Pilates system, a balanced body is created within which “ability” is enhanced and “dis-ability” is eliminated.

What is your professional passion or goal?

Live long, live strong, get to the core of the matter. My passion for my work in Pilates is that it heals bodies and souls. It’s not necessary to experience functional limitations and disability. We can choose a path of self-care and lifelong self-practice in Pilates through a sound education in body mechanics.

Any new-student specials?

No, but we’ve expanded our space and services. Our new Pilates studio in Mount Kisco accommodates Pilates duets. We also offer individual and small-group injury prevention programs for dancers and soccer players: for dancers, The Intelligent Dancer and Progressing Ballet Technique workshops and Pointe Readiness Evaluations; and for soccer players, team trainings combining Pilates and evidence-based conditioning principles for developing increased stability and resiliency, and instruction in selfcare recovery techniques.

What do you most want our readers to know?

At my studio you will reengineer your body under the eyes of a highly filtered lens: Pilates with a physical therapist. It’s amazing to observe a post-surgical patient in a boot using the Tower equipment to re-educate the gait through the core, or someone with a fractured spine come back strong once the core has been activated. I love teaching injury prevention to athletes, gymnasts, dancers and skaters and watching their performances jump to the next level.

How would you describe your studio?

Integrative Pilates is a classical studio that provides private Pilates instruction to meet individual needs. Clients come to Integrative Pilates to gain strength and flexibility in their already healthy bodies to improve their performance in golf, tennis or any sport. Others come to improve their overall strength, balance and flexibility.

What is your professional passion or goal?

I fell in love with the Authentic Pilates method after it changed my life. I had suffered with intense chronic back pain for many years, and it is truly miraculous what Pilates did for me. I wanted to share the method with other people so they could improve their physical strength and overall health. I decided to open my own studio, Integrative Pilates, so that I could help people achieve a higher state of well-being and help them increase their core strength and flexibility.

Any new-student specials?

I offer discounts on packages of private sessions.

What do you most want our readers to know?

Pilates is for everybody, not just for athletes. People with back issues gain core strength and flexibility to improve their daily activities with greater ease and confidence. The Pilates method is also wonderful for those who need improved posture, increased muscle tone and better balancing abilities. In order to get the most out of your Pilates session, it is essential to execute the movements correctly. Personalized one-on-one instruction allows the client to carry out the movements with proper form and alignment, which aids in engaging the proper muscle groups. The benefits of private Pilates instruction compared to group classes are abundant.

The Pilates Center Rhinebeck

Beth Graziano, Studio Owner
3752 Route 9G, Rhinebeck, NY

845.876.5114 • ThePilatesCenterRhinebeck.com

How would you describe your studio?

The Pilates Center Rhinebeck is the only studio in northern Dutchess County owned and operated by a classical, authentic secondgeneration teacher. I studied under and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates’ principal protégés. We have been teaching in Rhinebeck since 1996 and have inspired several other local studio owners to begin their careers in Pilates.

What is your professional passion or goal?

Because Pilates can be tailored to your unique health and fitness needs, our goal is to ensure that each session meets your changing abilities and strengths, and that you walk out of your session feeling taller, stronger and more energized than when you walked in. We have helped golfers and tennis players improve their game, and horseback riders sit better in the saddle. However, the challenge I find most rewarding is helping people recover from injury. The Pilates Method is ideally suited for this, and we have had great success with clients sent to us from physical therapists.

Any new-student specials?

Since it is important to understand not only the method, but how to get the most from the apparatus, we recommend working privately for a few sessions. Therefore, we offer an introductory package of five private sessions for $300.

What do you most want our readers to know?

We teach Pilates the way it was meant to be taught, placing emphasis on correct form to achieve improved strength and flexibility. Pilates can truly change how you live in your body, but it is also fun and invigorating. In our studio you will receive experienced, personalized attention, even in group classes.
