Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute Expands Summer Programs in 2012

Young women in Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute’s 2011 summer leadership program

The Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute (EFLI) is now accepting applications for its 2012 summer leadership programs, offering young women in Westchester the opportunity to explore their creative voices, acquire leadership skills and connect with their peers. The rolling deadlines for application are April 6 and May 4.

This year EFLI will offer three programs: Activating Leadership, for young women entering grades 10 to 12; Leading for Impact, a new program for past participants who are still in high school; and LIFE Fellowship, a summer internship for past participants who are recent high school graduates. An initiative of the Eileen Fisher Community Foundation, EFLI is now entering its third summer after a successful pilot program in 2010 and a full summer of programs with two 12-day sessions in 2011. This year’s expanded offerings build on those programs, says Program Director Antoinette Klatzky. “It was great to see how much we were able to learn from the previous years,” she says. “The young women have been able to connect more deeply to the core practices of Eileen Fisher.”

In Leading for Impact, participants will form collaborative teams and explore topics or issues they are passionate about through a community action project. The LIFE Fellowship, offered to a select group of past EFLI participants who recently graduated from high school, teaches fellows to incorporate and refine their leadership skills as mentors of the new participants.
