On Friday, May 11, the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester hosts its annual networking luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hilton Rye Town. The event features keynote speaker Sonia Manzano, an award-winning writer and activist, known worldwide for playing the role of “Maria” in Sesame Street.
The YWCA’s In the Company of Women luncheon draws hundreds of people each year and is open to the public. CEO Maria Imperial says that Manzano embodies the spirit of the event, having made a lasting difference in the lives of others. “This event will bring hundreds of people together to gain insights from Sonia, network with each other, and, just as importantly, be inspired to make a difference here in Westchester County.”
In the Company of Women will also recognize three area residents who have demonstrated leadership on behalf of the YWCA’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women. The 2012 awardees are Suzanne Clary, President of the Jay Heritage Center; Lee Lasberg, President of Lasberg Construction Associates, Inc.; and Dr. Pauline Mosley, Associate Professor of Information Technology at Pace University. Tickets are $150 and sponsorship starts at $2,500. For more information contact L. Danielle Cylich at 914.949.6227 x147, email [email protected] or visit YWCAWhitePlains.com/html/in_the_company.html.
