The family and staff members who own and operate Harvest Moon Farm and Orchard in North Salem say they live by the words of Hippocrates, who advised, “Let thy food be thy medicine, and thy medicine be thy food.” The 64-acre farm, which grows produce from June to October, offers people a place to purchase fresh and local produce, eggs and meat.   

“We want people to get to know their local farmers and understand exactly what they are putting into their bodies,” says Harvest Moon owner Rob Covino. “How healthy can we be if we have no idea where our food is coming from or who is growing it?”       

Harvest Moon raises their own hormone- and antibiotic-free, vegetable-fed turkeys and offers farm fresh eggs and grass fed beef throughout the year. While the farm is not certified organic yet, it practices organic and natural farming methods. Harvest Moon also carries local varieties of produce, honey, dairy and maple syrup from other producers. The market is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
