Kali Ma beauty bar, the independently owned retail store previously located in Carmel, NY, has moved to Mahopac.   

The move allowed owner Jill Battista to upgrade to a cozy two-story building in the center of Mahopac’s shopping district. “The store will continue to showcase independent artists and offer eye-catching clothing, handmade jewelry and mineral makeup and a range of metaphysical goods,” she says, adding that she has carefully preserved the unique look of the original store. “The downstairs is a wonderland, with treasures hidden in all nooks and crannies—sure to appeal to the goddess in every woman. As the downstairs will inspire awe and captivate your visceral senses, the upstairs is where the deeper magic happens.”   

 That upstairs will host healers and therapeutic practitioners, offering various classes, healing sessions, craft sharing and more. On August 21 from 7 to 10 p.m., healing practitioner Robert Jokel will be there to present a sneak preview of Immune to Cancer, a film he produced and directed. “This documentary offers a different viewpoint of this seemingly damning disease,” Battista says. “It offers insight from many who have survived cancer, and it begs the question, What stops us from controlling our own health and destiny?” The event includes a workshop with written exercises, so participants should bring a pad and paper. The cost is $25; space is limited.
