When our seventh anniversary came around, my husband and I decided to find a good local spot for breakfast. Luckily, we discovered a rustic treasure, nestled in the side streets of Ossining, called Wobble Café. The food is simply delicious and, after one bite, it was obvious to me that the secret ingredient is love.

A unique and historical collection of mismatched furniture and wall ornaments adorn the Wobble Café, where vegans, vegetarians, “meatatarians” and everyone in between can enjoy a great meal together. Owner Rich Foshay sets the tone with his bright smile and heart of gold. “I want to ensure that my restaurant is a kid friendly place where families are comfortable and the food is great,” he says. “We’ve also become an integral part of the Ossining community, from working with the local food pantry to participating in benefits and fundraisers.”

Foshay notes that many of the ingredients he uses come from local farmers and markets. He and his wife Beylka (pronounced- Be-yall-ka) combined years of cooking experience with Canadian influences and touches of Emeril’s Palace in New Orleans to create American eclectic food for everyone. I particularly love their Apple Compote Crepe, made from scratch with great attention to flavor. This one-of-a-kind crepe features smooth apple chunks slowly cooked in their own juices and seasoned with aromatic spices and brown sugar. A sprinkling of raisins adds an interesting twist.

The eggs are simple but flat out delicious at Wobble Café, and everything is reasonably priced and made to order for breakfast, lunch or dinner. If someone has a food sensitivity, as Beylka does, the couple will take great care to create a deliciously appropriate meal.

Next time you want to get off the beaten path and take the family out for downright amazing comfort food, head over to Wobble Café. Remember to say that Chef Natasha referred you and ask for Rich or Beylka. They’ll be very happy to see you.
