Bikram Yoga Comes to Scarsdale: Grand opening special: pay $49 to try Bikram yoga for an entire month.

Dec 02, 2012 08:51PM

Certified Bikram yoga teacher Richard Pike announces the opening of Bikram Yoga Scarsdale this winter. The new studio features a 1,900 square foot yoga room, the largest one in Westchester County, and the grand opening is slated for January 2013.

Bikram yoga is a 90-minute yoga class consisting of 26 beginner poses performed in a heated room. Pike, a Bikram practitioner for 10 years, says that the step-by-step nature of the class makes it suitable for all ages and abilities. “You do not need to have any yoga experience or special athletic abilities to enjoy Bikram yoga,” he says. “Students grow to love the heat as it helps to warm the muscles, prevent injury and flush toxins from the body. One analogy is to imagine that you had a chunk of steel and wanted to make a sword. The first thing you would do is heat up the metal to make it more flexible.”

Classes will be held every day and drop-in rates are $22 per session. Students can purchase unlimited yoga classes for $99 per month. Pike is also offering a grand opening special in which new students can pay $49 to try Bikram yoga for an entire month.

Bikram Yoga Scarsdale is located at 450 Central Park Ave. in Scarsdale. For more information call 914.713.8500 or visit BikramYogaScarsdale.com.
