How would you describe your Pilates studio? Set on the estate of Purchase College of the State University of New York, the Art of Control studio is in the campus’s sprawling physical education center. Our Pilates instructors are professional and certified, with more than 600 hours of education. We tailor sessions to our clients’ needs.

What services or amenities do you offer? We offer authentic Pilates sessions and classes with traditional equipment, teacher’s certification programs, massage therapy, Feldenkrais sessions, and Pilates conferences and education. Right now we’re offering a summer special: new students can receive $100 off the purchase of five private sessions.

What’s unique about your center or teaching style? AOC is authentic Pilates, maintaining Joseph Pilates’s tradition and legacy.

How would you describe your Pilates studio? Breathe is an intimate studio focused on personal attention. This kind of attention enables you to get the most out of each movement.

What services or amenities do you offer? Breathe offers both group yoga and Pilates classes in addition to private sessions. The first yoga class is free, and our intro special consists of two privates and one group class for $150.

How would you describe your Pilates studio? I customize each session to the individual needs of my clients. As a former professional ballet dancer, my focus is on correcting alignment and making sure the client understands how to execute the movement. I specialize in orthopedic post-rehabilitation, particularly back, knee and hip issues.

What services or amenities do you offer? I offer private, partner and group Pilates equipment lessons (reformer, tower, chair, jump-board); yoga and Pilates core fusion mat classes; adult beginning ballet; Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement; and specialty classes (e.g., Yoga for Anxiety and Depression). Having come to Pilates as an injured ballet dancer at the Center for Dance Medicine in San Francisco, I have always seen it as a toolbox rather than another workout technique. I follow in the footsteps of Pilates by using these tools to create individualized sessions for my clients depending on their unique needs.
