Astronomy Events to Better See and Appreciate the Night Sky: New York Night Sky comes to Westchester

Jeffrey Jacobs, founder of New York Night Sky, is excited to bring his astronomy services and events to the Westchester area. Jacobs, a lifelong amateur astronomer, will bring his six-foot tall Dobsonian telescope to most any location for an evening of awe-inspiring sights, accompanied by informative commentary.

“Telescope viewing can change the way you see the sky by magnifying all the beauty available to us,” he says. “When viewed through a telescope, the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, Mars and other parts of our solar system can touch us deeply and ignite a new perception of the universe and ourselves.”

During inclement weather, Jacobs presents an enlightening slideshow and discussion or screens his documentary film, A Sidewalk Astronomer. The film, which has aired on public television, is a tribute to telescope designer John Dobson. “New York Night Sky events are wonderful for groups of all ages,” says Jacobs. “I love sharing the beauty of the night sky, which illuminates for all of us a deeper understanding of where and who we are.”
