A Bark Above Holistic Wellness Center and Dog Daycare has opened in Somers, NY, and is now accepting enrollment applications and offering package incentives. Owner Christine Sinclair says the goal of the center is to offer services that meet a dog’s physical and emotional needs at an affordable price.

“For the cost of a one-time pet sitter, a dog can have companionship, socialization and comfort for a full day in an air-conditioned environment,” she says. “We have something to offer a dog’s individual needs: young dogs need socialization, stimulation and training, while older dogs need specialized one-on-one attention.” In addition to daycare, A Bark Above offers acupuncture, aromatherapy, Reiki, chiropractic, laser therapy and training. “I’ve always believed in alternative medicine and used it for myself and my family,” Sinclair says. “But not until recently has it become a reality for specialists to become trained to apply these therapies toward animals. Unfortunately, alternative pet care can be time-consuming or hard to find. I created this business in the hopes of bringing high-quality care to the canine community, bringing together my passion for dogs and alternative medicine.”

Daycare client Kristen Negro of Brewster, NY, says A Bark Above has given her peace of mind. “I feel completely secure knowing A Bark Above is looking after my dog,” Negro says. “I can get things done without feeling guilty that she is home alone or feeling anxious.”
