Universal Reiki Healing Connection, Inc. has opened its doors in Peekskill. The practice shares space with Infinite Possibilities in a historic building that offers an ideal place to teach this hands-on healing technique. Rediscovered in the 1850’s by Japanese monk and educator, Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki describes a system for tapping into the universal life force energy, also known as “chi.”

“This is energy that creates and sustains all life, and every living thing is spirited by this energy,” says Reiki Master, certified Energy Healer and class instructor, Shima Chayvet. “Reiki is the only healing modality with an attunement process, and this attunement ceremony is the foundation of Reiki and is what makes it unique.”

Chayvet received the gift of Reiki from Libby Barnett who was attuned by one of the earliest Reiki Masters, John Harvey Gray. “From this background and close lineage, people can receive the gift of Reiki with a very rare and close connection to the original 22 Reiki Masters,” says Chayvet. “I’ve been teaching Reiki since 2006 and I’m committed to preserving the integrity and authenticity of this simple, ancient form of healing.” 

Certification in Reiki I and Reiki II requires a two-day commitment and will give students the credentials needed to perform Reiki in hospitals, nursing homes and other places.
