Natural Awakenings Westchester / Putnam / Dutchess New York

Stoneledge Farm CSA Opens for a Sixth Season

The Stoneledge Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program is a chance for people to support regional agriculture and a small family farm. It also allows the local community to share the bounty and the risk of production.

Stoneledge CSA members purchase their shares before the harvest and receive weekly deliveries of USDA certified organic produce. Pick-up sites include Grace Church in Hastings, NY, and four other locations in Westchester. Each week brings six to eight different vegetables, from arugula to zucchini, and additional shares of fruit, coffee and mushrooms are also available. The 24-week CSA Mushroom Share includes cremini, white button, portobello, shiitake and oyster mushrooms, raised naturally at Bulich Mushroom Farm, and one type of mushroom is included per delivery.

“Managing this CSA has been a joy,” says Elisa Zazzera, co-manager of Stoneledge Farm. “I love getting to know members of my community, sharing recipes and connecting people with each other and with delicious, healthy food.” For every 10 members at each CSA site, Stoneledge donates one share to a charitable organization. In Hastings, these donations go to the Grace Food Partnership, which helps those in need. Each year, Stoneledge donates more than a thousand pounds of organic produce.
