Beacon Barks Parade Supports Shelters and Animal Rescue Groups: On Saturday April 26, 2014, in Beacon, NY

The Dutchess County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DCSPCA) and The Beacon Barkery in Beacon, NY, invite all dog lovers to “Beacon Barks!” on Saturday April 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free, family-friendly parade and festival takes place on lower Main Street in Beacon and supports local animal shelters and rescue groups.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. at Peace Park and contests include “Best Canine Group”, “Best Canine Marcher” and “Best Canine Spirit.” Dogs will also be welcomed in participating shops, and many restaurants will offer sidewalk dining for people and pets, accompanied by live music. Sponsors include 100.7 WHUD, the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, Pet Supplies Plus and Newburgh Veterinary Hospital.

The Beacon Barkery has helped to organize eight Beacon Barks events so far, and their pet bakery specializes in canine birthday cakes and treats. The DCSPCA is a no-kill shelter with a 143-year history of providing care and shelter for unwanted, abused, abandoned and neglected animals.
