Pawling Antiques Makes “Recycling” a Shopping Pleasure

At a time when small retailers come and go, Pawling Antiques is, well, practically an antique. It’s been in its current location for 13 years, but it began even earlier than that, as a collaboration of several antique dealers with an eye for the interesting and unique. Now Pawling Antiques is a fixture in the village of Pawling—home to 11 antique dealers, including six of the original dealers.

Dealer and Reiki Master Amy Kaufman, who joined Pawling Antiques in 2013, attributes the shop’s longevity to its diverse merchandise. “We have so much more than your grandmother’s old stuff,” she said. “We have sixties kitsch, woven French chairs, hand-blown glassware, unusual lighting fixtures … all beautiful, and all one of a kind. We also have clothing, shoes, handbags—vintage, of course—and vintage photos and artwork. Pawling Antiques is the best place to come to decorate your home—or yourself, for that matter—or to purchase the perfect gift for that special someone.”

The 11 dealers are constantly bringing in new merchandise, Kaufman says. “Our job is to be on the hunt for the old and exotic,” she says, “things you won’t find in any department store.”

Pawling Antiques is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed Mondays). The store shares space with the Book Cove at 22 Charles Colman Blvd., Pawling, NY. Call the shop at 845.855.9590.
