Sacred Earth Festival in Dutchess: September 7, 2014, at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY

The Green Brain Initiative—a collaborative, community-based program focused on poverty alleviation, environmental conservation and sustainability in the Hudson Valley—will hold its third annual Sacred Earth Festival September 7, 2014,  from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY. The free, family-oriented event will include a tribute to the memory of Pete and Toshi Seeger, pioneers in environmental and humanitarian causes.

The theme for this year’s festival is “Honoring the Sacred Fire.” The event will offer activities for adults and children, including a free live concert for children by local singer-songwriter and puppeteer Lydia Davis Adams. The award-winning Native American group Spirit of Thunderheart will present a free drumming workshop as well as introduce native crafts and games to children. Attendees will also be treated to free energy healings, mini-facials, earth-fire ceremonies, thematic exhibits, and performances, a sacred dance circle, and workshops on topics including plants and medicine, smudging, balancing the fire element in your diet, qi gong and yoga. Preregistration for the workshops is strongly recommended, as space is limited. Participants who preregister will be automatically entered to win a special prize.

All funds raised at the festival will benefit the work of The Green Brain Initiative in promoting a healthy Hudson Valley and offering enriching, free programs to help build more resilient local communities in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
