Fall Yoga Teacher Training at Historic Wainwright House

Wainwright House, the oldest holistic association in the United States, announces 200- and 300-hour yoga teacher certification programs, to begin in late September 2014.

The certification classes will be held for day students, and an immersion retreat class will also be offered. Special certifications in child, Kundalini, prenatal, restorative, teen and Yin yoga are planned for the fall, winter and spring sessions. Other Wainwright House programs include meditation classes, Qi Gong and Aikido.

“Wainwright House sits on five beautifully landscaped acres overlooking Milton Harbor and the Marshland Conservancy in Rye, NY,” says Executive Director Peggy Hill. “It is a stunning location in which to study anything, but especially yoga.”

The 200-hour retreat style program will be taught by Robin Appel, who specializes in Vinyasa-style and child yoga and currently owns her own studios, Always-At-Aum. The immersion retreat will be held over two separate weeks, September 29 and January 12, during which students will live on the Wainwright grounds.

A more traditional 200-hour yoga teacher training intensive will be taught by Bernadette Birney, who specializes in therapeutic, restorative and alignment based hatha yoga. This program invites students to refine their own yoga practice while learning the art of alignment based instruction. Participants in this intensive series have the option to reserve housing at Wainwright, but it is not required.

Wainwright House is located at 260 Stuyvesant Ave. in Rye, NY. For more information, call 914.967.6080 or visit Wainwright.org.
