WEPR-PTA Hosts First Annual Health and Wellness Fair on October 25, 2014: at the White Plains High School, 500 North Street.

The Westchester and Putnam Region Parent Teacher Association (WEPR-PTA) will host its first annual Westchester Health and Wellness Fair on October 25, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gymnasium of White Plains High School, 500 North Street. The free event is consistent with the WEPR-PTA’s mission to improve the lifestyle and well-being of children and families in the community, says Antoinette Darden-Cintron, the association’s region director.

The fair will feature products and services from a wide-range of vendors dedicated to health and wellness. Visitors can sample healthy food, natural beauty products and other vendor offerings; take advantage of professional health screenings; try holistic healing techniques like gentle chiropractic adjustments and chair massages; and see demonstrations of personal training and youth fitness techniques. There will also be crafts, raffles and entertainment activities appropriate for the entire family. Sponsors of the event include ShopRite Supermarket, White Plains Hospital and the YMCA of Central and Northern Westchester.

“We designed the fair in the interest of children,” Darden-Cintron says. “We also know parents will benefit from the knowledge our vendors and sponsors impart.  With so many dietary choices and busy schedules, parents are challenged to choose what’s best for kids. We hope to help parents make these choices in informed ways.” WEPR-PTA is the liaison between the community and the PTAs of the district and state, promoting the welfare of children and families through increased parent and community awareness, advocacy, education, and involvement.
