Organic Teaching Kitchen is Hands-On Nutrition: With Susan Chasen, certified nutrition and health coach

Susan Chasen

Susan Chasen, a certified nutrition and health coach, has opened The Organic Teaching Kitchen (TOTK) in the Upper Village of Croton-on-Hudson, a hands-on kitchen that allows her clients to develop confidence as they learn and practice new techniques and skills. Outside the kitchen is an organic garden with a variety of leafy greens, herbs and vegetables for clients to harvest and cook with.

Chasen says she designed TOTK to be an inviting, natural setting that allows clients access to utensils and appliances that may be new to them. “There’s something about this program that made healthy eating more accessible to me,” one of her clients told her. “I’m not afraid to cook anymore.”

Convinced that no one diet is right for everyone, Chasen has created “a tangible, realistic learning experience that meets clients where they are.” TOTK offers two programs to help them reach their goals quickly. The 21-Day Cleanse is a three-week course in clean eating. It begins with removing common food allergens like sugar, gluten and dairy from the diet. Healthy Eating 101 is a three-month program that teaches nutrition education and how to shop, prepare and cook healthy meals. “Both programs aim to change the way you look at food and to improve your eating habits,” she says.

TOTK works with adults, teens and kids, individually and in groups. Chasen also facilitates educational workshops and “healthy baking” birthday parties. Complimentary consultations are available in person or by phone. Visit TheOrganicTeachingKitchen.com or call 914.582.9574 to schedule an appointment.
