Glenn Black, master yoga teacher

As part of its Fall 2015 lineup of workshops to be held at the Wainwright House Yoga Studio in Rye, NY, the Yoga Teachers Association (YTA) has announced that renowned master teacher Glenn Black will offer a three-hour workshop in kriya yoga and yoga nidra meditation on September 12.

Other fall workshops are Sarah Bell and her “Speaking of Yoga” methodology, which teaches yoga instructors and others how to use their voices more effectively (October 10); Deborah Wolk of Samamkaya Yoga Back Care & Scoliosis Collective in Manhattan, presenting “Yoga and Scoliosis” (November 14); and local instructors Freddie Wyndham and Darcy Bowman teaching the principles of back bending and therapy ball massage (December 12).

A volunteer-run nonprofit, the YTA was founded in 1979 to create a yoga community in Westchester, Rockland and surrounding counties, with a mission to provide an affordable way to increase knowledge and deepen practice. Annual membership is $35 and is open to yoga teachers and committed students. Benefits include a monthly newsletter, special workshop pricing and discounted yoga classes at Wainwright House. The YTA hosts eight to ten workshops per year, usually on the second Saturday of the month, and workshops are open to the public. Cost for the three-hour workshops is $35 for members or $45 for nonmembers. Continuing education credits are available for all workshops.

YTA workshops are held at Wainwright House, 260 Stuyvesant Ave., Rye, NY. For more info on the YTA and its workshops, visit YTAYoga.com or email [email protected].
