Freight House Celebrates Five Years

It’s been five years since the Freight House Café opened its doors in Mahopac, NY, and its customers know what they can expect there: a menu full of yummy, organic, local, gluten-free dishes in an eclectic setting. So what’s new at the Freight House? Free live music every Saturday night, with light fare and a full bar. The doors open at 7 p.m. Saturdays for this 21-and-over event.

Meanwhile, customers of all ages are taking advantage of the warm weather to dine outside, says owner Donna Massaro. “Diners can always eat inside our eclectic, historical building,” she says, “but now that it’s summer, people love to sit on the outside deck next to the north county bike trail. Dogs are welcome out there, too. It’s a nice summer escape.” The Freight House Café is located right behind Salon Uccellis and Putnam Music Center, and off the bike trail across from the American Legion.

Massaro, who like her staff is “passionate and friendly,” says she uses American, organic and local products whenever possible.

The Freight House Café, located at 609 Rt. 6, Mahopac, NY, is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7-11 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Sunday. For more infor including updates on live music and events, visit TheFreightHouseCafe.com or call 845.628.1872.
