Local Author Offers Guidance for Home Caregivers: Caring for a Loved One at Home

Westchester resident Joyce Greene, an advocate for women and the elderly, has published a new book, No Place Like Home, that provides concise, step-by-step guidance for people caring for a loved one at home.

“When an elderly or dependent loved one requires special care within a home, their caregiver often faces one overwhelming challenge after another without any idea of who to turn to for answers,” Greene says. In No Place Like Home, she helps beginner caregivers through the process of implementing a home-care plan that tends to both the physical and the emotional needs of their loved ones.

The author has cared for her own mother at home, and she relies on her personal experience to provide caregivers with practical advice on how to choose an advocate, ensure a patient’s safety, organize the home, properly administer medication, fulfill dietary needs, plan healthcare appointments and activities, and incorporate a plan for wellness. Included in the book are checklists for family members and caregivers to ensure that financial and insurance information is up-to-date and that all the patient’s needs are addressed.

As practice director at Scarsdale Dental Spa and Wellness, Greene works with her husband, Dr. David Greene. Their practice caters to clientele looking for a tranquil environment that enables them to overcome dental phobias.

Joyce Greene is available for consultations by phone (914.713.5354) or Skype, as well as locally in person. For consultations and book-related inquiries, email [email protected] or call 914.713.5354. For more info, visit NoPlaceLikeHomeBook.com.
