Fall Brings New Services to the Temperance Center: Focusing on Mindfulness and Breath

The Temperance Center is kicking off fall with an expanded menu of yoga classes focusing on healing, mindfulness and breath. Owner Merrill Black says she expects to add more services as the year goes on, including monthly reiki circles and a late afternoon/early evening monthly or bimonthly restorative class.

“I feel so fortunate to have such a talented and dedicated team of teachers at the center,” she says. “The intimate setting of the yoga studio enables them to provide a great deal of individualized attention to their students. We continually strive to make our classes a great value for what the students receive from the staff. It continues to be our mission to offer an array of healing services to the community. We’re excited about what the year has in store for us.”

Black expects to continue offering two recurring events that proved particularly popular last year: kirtans with the band Tejase, and healing nights coinciding with the solstices and equinoxes (half the proceeds are donated to worthy causes). The center’s guided channeling meditation group also continues to grow and be a source of comfort, relaxation and healing, she says, adding “They are always fun and different, depending on who comes that evening and the messages that need to come forth for the group to raise group consciousness.”
