Free Intro to Qigong Workshop in Peekskill: By Margaret Steele on Nov. 17

Margaret Steele

Classical Acupuncture & Aromatherapy in Peekskill will host a free Introduction to Qigong workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m., November 17. It will be taught by licensed acupuncturist Margaret Steele, who has been practicing and teaching qigong for nearly 20 years, incorporating her knowledge of Chinese medicine to help her students achieve maximum benefits from the ancient movement meditation practice.

“Qigong was developed to cultivate health and longevity through breathing coordinated with gentle movements,” Steele says. “As one of the five pillars of Chinese Medicine—along with acupuncture, herbalism, dietetics and Tui Na, or bodywork—qigong is potentially a complete healing modality. Practitioners can experience stress reduction, better sleep and an increased sense of well-being and emotional balance.”

The classes are very gentle, Steele says. Qigong movements are slow and easy to learn, and they can be done while sitting or standing. Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothes.

The workshop is free, but preregistration is requested via SteeleNeedlesAcupuncture.com. Classical Acupuncture & Aromatherapy is located at 25 North Division St., 2nd floor, Peekskill.
