Natural-Looking, Semi-permanent Eyebrows at Ganesha Spa: 20 Years of Experience

Women who are not satisfied with their eyebrows and want to reconstruct or define them, cover gaps or fill them in now have a semipermanent option called microblading, which uses a special pen to mimic the look of real hairs. Irina Ionina, who offers the technique at Ganesha Spa, says the two-hour process delivers natural-looking results that avoid “the sometimes Sharpie-esque effects” of permanent makeup.

“Microblading—also called 3D or feathering—is more of an embroidery of clear strokes that look just like real hairs,” she says. “Using a special microblading pen, we draw on individual strokes one by one. It’s an extremely meticulous process that takes around two hours to complete.” A topical numbing cream is applied to the area before the process begins to minimize discomfort.

Ionina, a massage and skin-care therapist and instructor with 20 years’ experience, says the best part of the technique is that there’s no down time: “Your new set of brows will be ready for a selfie immediately after the process, and after they heal you can rub them and even go swimming.” And unlike eyebrow extensions, she notes, the result is low-maintenance. Except for a recommended 40-minute touch-up a month after the procedure and then a brief touch up once a year, no special care is required.
