Beginning February 25, the school of Applied Yoga will offer a five-month 200-hour teacher training in Raja-Hatha Yoga at Inner Balance Studio in Patterson. Rooted in the dualistic approach to yoga through practices of body and mind, “Raja-Hatha Yoga can inform, inspire and lead the practitioner toward self-understanding, acceptance and mastery,” says Gabrielle Semel, studio director. “By means of the eight-limbed practice, we start from where we are, meet our strengths and limitations, and work toward growth and full potential. The possibilities are endless.” The next interest meeting will be held at Inner Balance February 5 at 1 p.m.
Whether participants are looking to teach the practice themselves or simply deepen their own experience, this training program will provide opportunity through community-supported spiritual practice, Semel says. Mandates include weekend intensives on site as well as written homework, reading, practicum, daily journaling and meditation. Upon completion of the training, students will have Yoga Alliance-recognized certification. “Trainees will be equipped to apply and integrate ancient practice in group settings and uniquely for the individual, tending to nature, lifestyle and current state,” she says.
Trainings will be held from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays and 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays: February 25-26; March 11-12 and 25-26; April 8-9 and 22-23; May 6-7 and 20-21; June 3-4 and 17-18; and July 8-9.
