BeWies in Bedford Popular for Organic Juice Cleanses: Juices and salads are made fresh every morning.

BeWies Holistic Market and health food store has become a popular stop for its own line of organic juice cleanses made fresh daily on site. According to BeWies cofounder Amy Berman, customers often come in to buy a juice cleanse after a vacation or even after eating too much over the weekend.

A full-day cleanse typically comes with three green juices made from kale, swiss chard, cucumber, celery, ginger, parsley and lemon, and a sweet juice made up of beets, carrots and apples, but everything is customizable, she says, adding, “Customers can get salads with their cleanses too, if they prefer to chew.” Juices and salads are made fresh every morning, with pickup usually by 8:30 or 9 a.m.

The price for their all-inclusive organic juice cleanse is $59.95 a day. Single juices are available in three sizes—16, 24 and 32 ounces—and range from $9 to $17

BeWies also makes organic smoothies, available in 16- and 24-ounce sizes and priced from $7.50 to $12.

“The base of all our smoothies is either almond milk or coconut water, and then we use fruits and nut butters, and either plant-based or whey protein powder,” Berman says. “Probably our most popular smoothie is the Monkey, which is made with almond milk, banana, peanut butter and protein powder” A popular choice with adults is the Awake—a midafternoon pick-me-up made with almond milk, cold-brewed coffee concentrate made in-house, dates, cinnamon and vanilla.

BeWies also offers a wide selection of salads and wraps, all made on site with organic ingredients.

And then there’s the market’s large, entirely gluten-free bakery, which makes two kinds of chocolate chip cookies (one is nut-free), and chocolate chip, lemon poppy seed and cinnamon almond muffins. “You really can’t taste that the products are gluten-free,” Berman says. “If you didn’t know it, you would just think that you are eating a cookie from a really great bakery.”

A popular new item that’s ideal for an afternoon snack is the Acai Bowl, a frozen treat made with frozen acai purée blended with strawberries, bananas and coconut milk. It has a creamy consistency like sorbet and comes with any three of the following toppings: berries, almonds, chia seeds, coconut, chocolate chips, granola, almond butter and peanut butter.
