Celebrate Earth Day with Sheldrake: A chance for families to gather and celebrate our earth

The Sheldrake Environmental Center in Larchmont— a 60- acre oasis of land and water that provides a sanctuary for wildlife and people—will host its largest Earth Day celebration yet on April 22 with an afternoon of interactive, educational and restorative events. “We are excited to be expanding the Earth Day celebration this year, when the environment needs our help more than ever,” says Jen Barnes, event chair. “Our goal is to enhance the health of our community and our environment by bringing more people into close connection with and appreciation of nature.”

The celebration will begin with a reservoir cleanup from 9 to 11 a.m. Festivities will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with live music, an orienteering challenge, nature education, a StoryWalk with Larchmont author Todd Harrington, a crafts and art exhibit, face painting, refreshments and a raffle.

“This is a chance for families to gather and celebrate our earth, a healthy environment and our community,” says Sheldrake Executive Director Mary Ellen Kelly. “Sparking a love of nature through fun, positive experiences is what it’s all about.”

Sheldrake Environmental Center is located at 685 Weaver St., Larchmont. For info and tickets, visit SheldrakeCenter.org.
