MAYfest Celebrates Music, Art and Yoga: May 26 through 28 at Surprise Lake Camp in Cold Spring

MAYfest—a two-day, three-night event named for its focus on music, art and yoga—is essentially a customizable festival. With musical headliners Rusted Root, Ozomatli, Dr. Williams and DJ Drez, plus more than 140 yoga and art classes, the lineup allows festivalgoers to personalize their experience, immersing themselves in their yoga practice, their love for music and/or their creative side.

This is the third year for the homegrown Hudson Valley festival produced by Dave and Melia Marzollo. MAYfest 2017 will be held May 26 through 28 at Surprise Lake Camp in Cold Spring. Gates open at 1 p.m. May 26, and the festival will be held rain or shine.

“With instructors like Elena Brower, Sadie Nardini, DJ Drez and Marti Nikko, this festival is any yoga lover’s dream,” says Greg Sarafan, media director of the festival. “Whether you’re a yogi with a regular practice or don’t know downward dog from crouching tiger, we’ve got a class for you—everything from literally ‘My First Yoga Class’ to SUP yoga on the lake and every asana in between. Then there are all the art classes, hikes, shopping, hanging out and baller musical magic.”

Kids are always welcome at MAYfest, and they have their own space at the Kids Canteen, which offers them a day full of fun while their parents get some “me” time. Kids 4 and under enter the festival free with an adult, while kids 5 to 12 are admitted at a reduced charge.

"MAYfest is truly a community gathering place for everyone in the family,” Sarafan says.

In between class sessions, guests can shop for local and handcrafted goods in MAYfest’s Vendor Village and receive holistic services from healers in the Wellness Arena. After the sun goes down, the main stage lights up and the party continues with nationally touring musical acts.

Tickets and cabin rentals are currently available for the entire weekend, and additional options for single-class tickets and day passes will be released in the coming weeks, space allowing.
