Catch Seed in Harlem— Or Host a Local Screening: “David and Goliath battle that exists to defend the future of our food.”

Those who want to see Taggart Siegal’s film Seed: The Untold Story, can catch it at the People’s Film Festival, which takes place May 31 through June 4 in Harlem. But they can also bring it closer to home by hosting a screening in their own community.

The makers of Seed have partnered with Gathr—a technology-based specialty theatrical distributor for documentaries and issues-oriented films—to allow individuals the opportunity to organize and promote screenings in movie theaters across the country. By hosting a screening, people concerned about the dangers of big agribusiness can share the 12,000-year-old legacy surrounding seeds and what the filmmaker calls the “David and Goliath battle that exists to defend the future of our food.”

The process for hosting a screening is straightforward: pick a date, time and theater for the screening, and Gathr will set everything up. The hosts don’t have to pay for the screening room rental or exhibition fee; all they have to do is help promote the film and get people to reserve tickets. Those who want to enjoy Seed as part of a larger event should plan to attend the People’s Film Festival, founded in 2012 by the nonprofit People’s Media, Music & Arts Foundation.
