Huge Outdoor Yoga Event Raises Mental Health Awareness: Turnure Park in White Plains June 21, at 5:30 p.m.

Get On Your Mat for Mental Health, an outdoor yoga class designed to raise awareness and support for behavioral health issues and services, will return to Turnure Park in White Plains June 21, at 5:30 p.m. It will be led by Beryl Bender Birch and hosted by the Mental Health Association of Westchester.

One of well+GOOD’s “most inspiring megayoga events,” the class features mindfulness, meditation, movement and music, all for a good cause. “Prior to the yoga class, participants can enjoy the sounds of Brooklyn’s popular House of Waters while strolling through the ‘yoga marketplace,’” says Connie Moustakas, director of development for the Mental Health Association of Westchester.

Early registration is encouraged. The first 250 registrants will receive free yoga mats, courtesy of White Plains Hospital. Admission is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the class. Little yogi tickets are $15.

“Our campaign slogan is Mental Health Matters,” Moustakas says. “We encourage participants to be the movement by raising awareness for the event and for mental health. At MHA, we strive to foster communities where everyone is welcome, where we lift each other up and inspire change. In our community, shame, stigma and discrimination have no place.”

Turnure Park is located at 26 Lake Street, White Plains. Check-in and registration begin at 5:30 p.m., along with live music and the yoga marketplace. Class begins at 6:30 p.m.
