Animal advocate, network news correspondent and bestselling author Jill Rappaport, who has been called “the true voice for the voiceless,” has become the official spokesperson for Good Reasons Dog Treats, a local nonprofit that provides employment for people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Hiring an official spokesperson marks a significant sign of growth for the Westchester- and Dutchess-based company, says Communications and Development Manager Kelly Apfel. “Since launching in July 2014, Good Reasons is now selling their all-natural, USA-sourced dog treats nationwide, with over 120 Unleashed by Petco stores, and continual reorders from BarkBox, the pet subscription box. With an additional 11 Whole Foods stores and over 100 local stores, the scrumptious treats are pleasing dogs palates all across America.”

Rappaport, who visits shelters across the United States with a goal of finding a loving home for all animals, says she sees potential in partnering with an established line of pet products to benefit animals in need. She and Good Reasons have already collaborated to create the Rappaport’s Rescue Recipe, a flavor that will join her bestselling line of products, the Jill Rappaport’s Rescued Me Collection.

“I am so honored and thrilled to be part of a company whose mission, like mine, is truly from the heart,” she says. “Together we will make a much-needed difference for animals and people in need.”

Good Reasons was founded by Vicki Sylvester, PhD, who merged her professional experience as an advocate for the disabled community with her love of animals to create a company that supports an integrated workforce.
