Full Circle Veterinary Hospital

Jun 29, 2017 12:09AM

Full Circle Veterinary Hospital, in Wappingers Falls, is not a typical animal clinic. With a focus on nutrition and overall health, the hospital provides customized integrative holistic care for each pet. In addition to getting their dogs and cats vaccinated and picking up prescriptions, pet owners receive expert advice on nutrition options and supplements based on their pet’s lifestyle and family dynamic.

Natural Awakenings sat down with owner Dr. Michelle Rocque to find out more about Full Circle Veterinary Hospital.

What makes Full Circle Veterinary Hospital unique?

We specialize in nutritional consultations, instructing pet parents to “think outside the bag.” We believe in taking the time to educate our clientele about the food options that exist, helping them decide what the appropriate diet for each individual patient is. We also use nutritional supplements— including both western and Chinese herbal combinations, glandular and whole food supplements, homeopathies and vitamin therapies—to support different body systems or imbalances within our patients.

Tell me about your Wappingers Falls location.

We opened our doors in November of 2014 and created an environment designed to put both patients and clients at ease as soon as they arrive. We focus on keeping the chaos to a minimum by allowing for longer appointment times, thus minimizing the number of patients in the building at once and giving the animals time to calm down and interact with us on their own terms before starting the exam. We utilize pheromone products that have calming properties for both cats and dogs in the exam rooms, which helps keep patient anxiety at bay.

Tell us more about the importance of nutrition.

Nutrition is an absolute passion for me and it is the topic I spend the most time discussing during an exam. I have helped countless patients with conditions, such as obesity and skin allergies, simply by educating the owners about transitioning to a higher quality and higher protein diet. My use of homeopathy ranges from every animal receiving an injectable followed by an oral homeopathic when here for surgery to reduce inflammation and encourage healing, to homeopathic remedies for vaccine detoxification, as well as grief after the loss of another animal or person in the household.

What type of preventative measures to do you recommend?

We offer conventional vaccine protocols for our patients like most veterinarians but we tailor each protocol to our individual patients based on their lifestyle and family. In addition, we offer vaccine titers, which allow us to determine if our patients are still protected from previous vaccines. This gives pet owners the option to vaccinate less frequently. We also provide both conventional and holistic options for heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, as well as recommendations for chemical-free treatments for the home.

Do you offer phone consultations?

Yes, we do. If an owner needs time to discuss specifics about their pet over the phone, especially in complicated cases involving multiple veterinarians, we gather all records prior to the consultation and set a time for the client to call in and discuss their concerns.
