Children’s health needs are best served by someone with the training and tools to address them. Nagi Wissa, owner of Lake Mahopac Pharmacy, says that while his pharmacy does everything a standard big-box store pharmacy does, it has a special section just for children’s products, including a wide selection of child-specific supplements and holistic remedies, as well as custom dosages and flavorings.

The pharmacy will customize or compound prescriptions on site— a particularly helpful service for children’s medication, since dosages often need to be titered down for lower body weights—and it can convert a medication from pill to liquid form. “Some medications are not available in liquid, so we can make it into a liquid for kids to take, and add flavoring,” Wissa says.
