Families of Adults with Aspergers/High-Functioning Autism (FAAFHA), which has met regularly in Westchester for more than a dozen years, will hold its next monthly meeting September 24, at Arc of Westchester, the Gleeson-Israel Gateway Center, located at 265 Saw Mill River Road (Route 9A) in Hawthorne.

FAAFHA meets at Arc of Westchester from September to June each year, usually (but not always) on the fourth Sunday of each month, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

“Some of our meetings are general meetings—rap sessions. At other meetings we have speakers on a variety of topics of interest to our members. Some of the topics we have dealt with are benefits, OPWDD eligibility, guardianship, special needs trusts, housing, medication and many more. Anyone who would like to attend our meetings is welcome,” says Bonnie Kaplan, who facilitates the group along with Judy Omidvaran.

Another group that meets concurrently with FAAFHA is for adults on the autism spectrum; it focuses on social skills. Anyone interested in attending this group must be screened by the facilitators, Robin Kaufman and Lauren Greiner. They can be contacted at [email protected].
