New Health Empowerment Series in Mount Kisco: The series reflects a shifting attitude about the role people should take in their own healing.

The Center for Health and Healing in Mount Kisco is launching a new series of presentations applying ancient, empowering healing principals to medical problems such as common colds and the flu, thyroid issues, cancer, pain and autoimmune disorders. Melanie Ryan, who co-owns the center with Andy Steigmeier, says the series reflects a shifting attitude about the role people should take in their own healing.

“For years we’ve been operating under the mindset that someone else should heal us of our suffering,” Ryan says. “However, at the center we have seen a shift in recent years, where people are seeking to take personal responsibility for their health. In fact, we’ve seen that the more an individual invests in their healing process, the more they heal.”

This philosophy of personal investment in healing can found in many ancient cultures, she notes. “The oldest healers known to our planet are the indigenous healers called shamans, who used empowerment as their main approach to healing. So why in modern-day life, when we are smarter and more evolved, do we feel so helpless and disempowered?”

Through this new series, Ryan and Steigmeier say they will encourage people to re-engage with this philosophy and become more active participants in their own healing process by doing research, exploring new modalities and being open to trying things new things—or old, even ancient things.

“These are profound presentations with talented practitioners, all designed to empower people with insight and knowledge, new perspectives, information and resources,” Ryan says.
