Free Presentation on Naturopathic Medicine: November 16, at 7:30 p.m.

Dr. Kurt Beil

Dr. Kurt Beil, who sees patients and offers advice on supportive nutrition, herbalism, stress reduction, biofeedback and acupuncture at the Center for Health and Healing in Mount Kisco, will give a free presentation on naturopathic medicine on November 16, at 7:30 p.m., at Rye (NY) Free Reading Room, located at 1061 Boston Post Road.

Beil has a degree in naturopathic medicine (ND) and will explain how a naturopathic doctor differs from a doctor of medicine (MD) by blending modern medical science with ancient healing techniques such as herbalism, nutrition and acupuncture to promote health and resolve chronic disease.

“There are many options in the modern healthcare landscape,” he says. “Medical doctors have significant amounts of knowledge of the human body, disease processes and medications, and these can be very effective. However, there can be gaps in this care that leaves people wanting more.”

Naturopathic medicine works in conjunction with standard medical care, he says. “A naturopathic doctor’s four-year training is similar to that of a medical doctor, but rather than treating disease symptoms, naturopathic medicine works to identify and treat the causes of illness and promote a person’s inherent healing capacity.”

While naturopathy is not currently a licensed medical profession in New York State—Beil is licensed to practice acupuncture— it is licensed in 23 other states, including Connecticut, where Beil also practices and orders regular and functional medicine lab tests, performs exams and can have office visits eligible for insurance reimbursement.
