Lisanne Elkins Introduces ‘Scalp and Sole’ Treatment: Focuses solely on the feet and head and borrows techniques from Asian disciplines.

Lisanne Elkins, owner of Balance Bodywork Therapeutic Massage and Reiki, in Mount Kisco, has introduced a new treatment to her practice: Scalp and Sole, which focuses solely on the feet and head and borrows techniques from Asian disciplines.

“I use moist heat, essential oils and hot stones and engage pressure points in both the head and feet,” Elkins says. “The result is a deeply relaxing and meditative session.”

She has been practicing therapeutic massage and reiki in her Mount Kisco office for 20 years. Her general massage practice incorporates many areas of study, from basic Swedish massage to energy work such as Chinese acupressure, craniosacral techniques and aromatherapy, as well as reiki. She also studied healing with natural herbs and plants under author and herbalist Susun Weed, incorporating this knowledge in her practice when applicable, she says.

Most recently, Elkin studied Thai foot massage at the Swedish Institute and took a course from the American Massage Therapy Association in massage techniques for headache relief. She is continuing her work with basic and advanced massage techniques and says she plans to teach Reiki I and II workshops in her community.

“This year I’ll also be studying somatic release, which I’ve been interested in for quite some time,” she says.
