Sacred Spirit Yoga and Healing Arts Center, in Dobbs Ferr, and Sita’s Light Kirtan will host an evening of chanting and sacred music at the Center on October 13, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

No music or signing experience is necessary to participate in the yogic practice of group chanting known as kirtan, which is designed to calm the mind and create a sense of inner peace. Sita’s Light Kirtan will lead the call-and-response chanting of Sanskrit mantras framed by eclectic sacred music played on harmonium, tabla, guitar and didgeridoo.

“Sita” Miriam Zernis has been leading kirtans in New York, Connecticut, Canada and Europe for more than a decade. Her kirtans combine traditional old-world and original chants blended with eclectic sacred music. She is joined by musicians whose mission is to spread the practice of Bhakti Yoga.
