Irina Ionina, owner of Ganisha Spa, in Peekskill, says the holiday season always brings increased demand for skincare treatments to make skin look younger and healthier. While there are many tools and techniques for restoring the skin, chemical peels often bring the best results, she says.

“Peels remove dead cells from the surface to lighten and brighten the skin, which is so important after summer,” she says. “They even the skin’s tone and texture and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.”

Not all peels are alike, Ionina adds. “There’s a chemical peel for everyone, from those with gentle enzymes and natural hydroxy acids to medium-depth peels. It’s not necessarily ‘the stronger the better.’ That’s where a professional skincare therapist comes in handy—to choose the best and safest peel for the individual, depending on skin type and condition. We can also combine a peel with microdermabrasion or go with lighter exfoliation done several times.” She says Ganesha Spa recently began using several new products, including Eminence Vibrant Masks after treatments, to make the skin glow.

For the holidays, the spa has developed a special treatment combining microdermabrasion or dermaplaning with a lactic acid peel. “It gives a great look with fresh, vibrant skin results and no downtime.” Ionina says. The more invasive Fusion Peel requires a few days’ downtime. Through December, all clients will receive a free gift of anti-aging serum.
