Indigo Helm—‘More Than Yoga’—Opens in Cortlandt Manor: "This is a discovery place! Drop-ins are welcome."

Lisa Leardi-Lake

When The Indigo Helm opened in Cortlandt Manor last month, owner Lisa Leardi-Lake described it as “more than yoga.” That was an understatement.

Although the bright, industrial-style space does host yoga classes for all ages, “The Indigo” is also a place for writers, knitters, a plant-based food group, reiki, shamanic healing, meditation with movement, and even a monthly psychic medium gallery. In addition, it houses a retail shop offering books, metaphysical items and clothing, including concert tees and bellbottoms.

Leardi-Lake, author of the health and wellness book Indigo Pure, says she wanted to bring a new twist to the healing community by providing “a discovery environment” for all who are interested in gaining or regaining tools for balanced living.

“This is for everyone. Everyone starts somewhere,” she says. “If we are to nourish mind, body and spirit, I needed to offer programs that relate to all three—with a bit of fun. My philosophy is that we are all learning different things at different times; it does not have to be all one or the other. Just start somewhere, and just show up. This is a discovery place! Drop-ins are welcome."
