Since it was launched in 2018, the Dover Farmers’ Market has steadily grown in the number of visitors and participating vendors, says Jennifer Soukup, who helped found the market as part of Solutions for a Better Dover, a “community-run, get-it-done” organization aimed at providing Dover residents with a platform to transform ideas to benefit the community into a reality. The market is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday through October 20 at Dover Elementary School.
“Our vendors tell us they hear a lot of good buzz about the Dover Farmers’ Market when they are at other markets, and inquiries about joining the market come in from new vendors almost on a weekly basis,” Soukup says. “Last season we had an amazing turnout to our market, and I’m excited to see so many new and regular customers frequenting it in its second season.”
Among the vendors participating in the Dover Farmers’ Market are Farmer Dave’s CSA, Soukup Farm, Falconwood Farms, Wave Hill Breads, Harlem Valley Homestead, Flower Chix, Hoofprint Cheese Company, J.S.K. Cattle Company, Locust Hill Market, Marilyn’s Food Truck Co., Brookby Farm Store and Dairy, The Village Farm and Hoppy Hill. The market also has drop-in vendors, including Dykeman Farms, Cookies by Mabel and Frites of New York. Most vendors participate in the SNAP program, which allows those with food stamp benefits to use them at the market.
