As Westchester County’s only dually licensed and practicing certified chiropractic sports physician and massage therapist, Dr. Leigh Damkohler offers people “a different way to approach living a healthier, energized, positive life.” To enhance patients’ health and wellness, she’s trained to incorporate a variety of techniques, including ergonomics, postural exercise, stretching and nutritional support. “Aside from my credentials, my down-to-earth bedside manner and willingness to think outside the box help make my patient care unique,” she says.

It makes sense, then, that Damkohler’s practice keeps evolving along with her. She’s in her 22nd year as a licensed massage therapist and her 15th year as a doctor of chiropractic, and last year she became an adjunct professor at Westchester Community College. Lately she’s begun integrating more intense range of motion and stretching into her deep-tissue massages, and the combination is “incredibly effective,” she says.

She credits chiropractic with helping her recover from an accident in 1998, and now she’s returning the favor, helping alleviate myriad problems, including back, neck and disc pain; sciatica; headaches; pulled muscles; sports injuries, including golf/tennis elbow; and referred pain, which often gets misdiagnosed.

“My goal is to help people get back to the lives they love through moving, performing and feeling better as a result of treatment,” she says. “I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone who may have pain or simply wants to improve their energy or quality of life.”
